Parparia is a small village of farmers and cattle-breeders at 300 meters of altitude at the west mountainside of Amani, 54km far away from Chios Town and 13km from Volissos.
Parparia is a really ancient site: Stavros Stefanidis has been studying the history and origin of this village after he found an old map of Chios in the Koraes Library telling that Parparia was at least almost 600 years old.

Diefha
The ancient village of Diefha is located 30km far from Chios Town and, according to the 2001 census, has a population of 86 inhabitants.

Worth visiting is the late Byzantine Monastery of Moundon dedicated to the memory of St. John the Baptist (Agios Yiannis Prodromos), who is celebrated on August 29th. Over the cloister is the plateau of Amithounda, portrayed by a team of French experts as one of the best places in all Europe to breed horses for horse racing. Here there are also the waters of Aggelos spring.
