Fyta is a 500 hundred year-old small village located by the mountainside of Pelinneo, 41km far from Chios Town. Its name derives from the abundance of plants in the area (fyta=plants). Thanks to its wonderful landscapes,
the castle and tower which are dated back to 1516, and abundant spring waters, both inside and outside the village, that used to move 8 water mills in the past, Fyta is worth visiting. The local festival, dedicated to Agia Marina, takes place on July 17th.
